so far i have one good class this semester, and one class that i haven't been to you. of the rest, one is interesting, but i wouldn't really consider it "good" and the other two are not good.

allen ginsberg is pretty awesome. i have just discovered this. with a little help from my friends.

i actually did my reading for tomorrow (from Fundamental Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences...oh man)...how incredible is that? i know by the second or third week i will have given up on keeping up with readings. actually, for once in my life it really helps not having a life...or cable TV.

this is all, i just felt like updating.

"i'm nearsighted and psychopathic anyway."

This is insanely random, but there's this comic taped to the wall of the bathroom at Record and Tape that always makes me giggle, so I wanted to share it. The title is "How Girls Get Even." This is my favorite part of it.

"My Little Pony Head Left on Pillow."

You probably have to have seen The Godfather (or at least The Godthumb) to find this funny.

The bottom left section (which you can hardly see) goes as follows: One girl says "You told her what?!" The other girl replies "It's not tattling if it's to a doctor!" and the caption says "Tattling To The School Shrink." Hehe.

Really random...

There's this really dorky teen-ish show that I love called Degrassi (anyone else ever watch it?!). I have to say, no matter how cheesy it is, there are some things that I really appreciate about it. The kind of things that you will NOT find in an American-made TV show (Degrassi is Canadian, by the way). The kids look like normal kids...braces, zits, frizzy hair, all of it (even on the "popular" kids). Plus, they actually look the age they're supposed to be.

Don't get me wrong, I still like shows like the OC where the juniors in high school are played by 25 year olds and the only "kids" you'll ever see with braces are the "losers," but it's nice to see that not every show is like that.

Anyways, it's basically one of those shows where each episode covers a different issue kids may face...but unlike all the other lame-o shows of this type, Degrassi...well basically it shows different ways kids can handle these issues, instead of just showing the good Christian way of handling them. Does that make sense?

For example, in an episode where a girl gets pregnant (at age 14), it shows everything she goes through trying to decide what to do. Although she is pressured by everyone to do something different (raise the baby herself, give him/her up for adoption, have an abortion, etc) she ends up having an abortion. As one of the characters suggests, next time she should "ask questions first, get naked later" and this seems to be the moral of the episode. Of course, the only American TV station that airs Degrassi decided that it would not air this particular episode (the only full episode they refused, although they edited parts of other episodes that they deemed "inappropriate").

Uhm...I don't know if I really had a point here. I just like that show and I like that it doesn't try to teach a specific set of morals. I hope that by the time I have kids, there are at least a few American made TV shows like this...or at least American networks that will play shows like this. I would much rather have future generations learn that it's okay if your morals differ from other people's morals, and that most kids weigh more than 90 pounds and don't have "perfect" hair, skin, and boobs. Who are the TV networks to tell us what "perfect" is anyways?!

Oh, but I did want to share a little scene from an episode I was watching last night...actually, the episode that really made me realize how different this show is from most shows...

(A conversation between a few girls in the locker room after gymnastics practice)
"Fifty bucks to anyone who can give me a tampon RIGHT NOW!"
"What happened?!"
"I can't believe no one noticed! I just did a front walk-over that belongs in a horror movie!"

Seriously, when was the last time you heard something like that on an American made TV show?!

I've been seriously meaning to update more...I've had pictures to share and everything! I've really just been too lazy. My days have been filled with knitting and math class...one of those things is much more fun than the other, by the way. If only they could be combined somehow...

Anyways, I have a picture that I NEED to share...let me explain. Over the weekend, I took Zoey to Middletown with me to see a vet (I needed a second opinion on her bloody-head condition and my dad's neighbor is a vet and said he wouldn't mind taking a look at her). I'm very much glad I got the second opinion (my usual vet urged me to get a $450 biopsy done immediately...this vet said...well, basically that a biopsy would tell me nothing and that she'll probably have this condition for her whole life...sad, but at least now I know how to take care of her).

Anyways, the ride to and from Middletown was MISERABLE (as anyone who has tried to transport a cat a long distance could probably guess). She was extremely upset the entire time and very sick on the way there. And VERY loud both ways. She was even upset with me for two days after we returned! I feel bad about it, but I know it was for her benefit so I'm trying not to feel guilty. So, the point being, I took this picture on the way home when we were about 10 minutes away from the apartment. It really summarizes the whole trip.

I hope no one finds this to be cruel-ish...I was nearly in tears the entire trip cuz I felt so bad for her, but once we were home and safe and happy this picture seriously cracked me up.

That is one unhappy kitty.

as of this exact second right now, i have $0.00 on my credit card (for perhaps the first time since i got a credit card). AND i (should) have enough money to feed myself atleast until my next paycheck.

yes, that means that the only debt i'm in is from college loans (...i say that like it's nothing, but i don't have to deal with it until i graduate so i refuse to think about it until then).

ok, now it's time to go back to the depressing world of the two term papers i have due in the next 48 hours. i like to call this world the land of "you think you're going to pass all your classes? think again fucker!!!" it's a beautiful place really...

Today, I ventured over to the TU library to pick up a few books for my Feminist Theory term paper. I sometimes forget how much I love the library...and how much I love Towson's campus when there are no kids there. It's really the other students that ruin it for me. They're just annoying. But when there are just a few kids walking around and it's all quiet...it's really quite pretty.

So I took pictures. On the walk from my car to the library, in the library, walking from the library back to the car, and a few random other places on campus that I've always wanted to see up close but never have. It's a strange thing living in a place where everyone tells you that you (as a girl) shouldn't really be venturing outside alone. And maybe I shouldn't have (although daytime is quite a bit more safe, I would imagine) but fuck it.

(Sorry for the weird quality of the pictures...they're Polaroids and I have no scanner so I just took pictures of the pictures...)

Anyways, I decided that I want to live in a library. Or atleast go to libraries more often. Something about them is just awesome.

Inside the elevator...

I'd never before noticed how many walls in the parking garages are painted bright yellow...this picture is my favorite.

A brief update on what I've been up to...
Friday:
-Work in the morning.
-Punchline show at the Ottobar at night (which was excellently excellent).
-Ate at the Paper Moon Diner (which was cool firstly because the guys from most of the bands ended up there, and secondly because the food was awesome...I got a grilled Havarti sandwich with tomato and basil...mmmmm...).

Saturday:
-Deathly sickly in the morning and at night...only slightly sickly inbetween.
-Got a million different kinds of mini frozen pizzas from Trader Joe's with Jon and Ben...it was really yummy but made me even more sick.
-The boys watched Watership Down, which I tried to watch for a bit but something about animated movies where animals die or get hurt are just too much for me...I always end up bawling like a baby, and I thought I should try to avoid that since Ben was over.
-Stayed up really late reading cuz I couldn't sleep. Got a good bit of a really good book done. (Oh, I finished this book called Bloodletting by Victoria Leatham a few days ago...it was incredible. Strange subject matter though, so I don't think I'll be reviewing it on the book review group...)

Today:
-Exchanged Easter baskets with Jon at about 6:30 this morning cuz I couldn't sleep (as usual). It was my first Easter basket!! (Short of maybe a few from my grandmother when I was a very very little one.)
-Library, photos, wandering around campus.
-Tonight, possibley going to the Appleseed Cast show at the Ottobar (it's only $8 and they're awesome so it's hard to pass up).
-Oh crap, I have a Fem Theory paper due tomorrow...

i have this theory that i have really good ideas when i call out of work. i'm not entirely sure why i think this, as i can only really remember one incident where i had a really good idea when i called out of work. i called out one sunday in september because i had to read this book for one of my classes and i hadn't even started it yet (and i was determined to do well in that class!). so i called out and started reading and a few chapters in i stopped, yelled for jon, and said "let's go get some cats." and we did. and that's how we found our blaker and our zoey. that was a pretty damned good idea.

i really think that i've had other good ideas on days that i've called out of work, but i can't remember what they were. but the blaker/zoey idea was such a good one, i think it should be worth more than one idea. it should be atleast one idea for each cat.

so my point is, i'm thinking about calling out tomorrow. i'm not entirely sure, but i'm thinking that i should just go with it cuz maybe my desire to call out means that i'll have a really good idea. and what if i was at work when that good idea hit, and by the time i got home i'd forgotten it? or what if being at work makes me not have good ideas? i could miss out on something really awesome just because i didn't trust my instinct.

however, if i call out of work tomorrow and have no good ideas...well that would just be dissapointing. and i may be discouraged from calling out again. which is probably a good thing. i'll let you know what happens.

a nice, public update...

i don't update enough anymore. so every time i DO update, i feel like too much has happened to describe, so i just talk about some random stuff and post some pictures that i think are cute. and today will be no different. let the randomness begin...

on new years eve, jon and i went to the postsecret show in DC. it was completely awesome. i like art shows, but i tend to get bored fairly quickly so this was perfect for me (just because it was so captivating).

we also did some shopping in the area, but sadly i didn't end up finding anything interesting. we did go to this good vietnamese restaurant tho...i had fake duck haha. i don't know what duck tastes like so i can't really compare it to anything, but it was good!!

now for the inevitable cat pictures...see, this is what happens when jon goes out of town, i have nothing to do but talk to (and take pictures of) my cats. it's sad really...anyways, zoey has taken over my computer as her new bed. i don't know why but she seriously loves sleeping on it. she'll try to come up and move me out of the way when i'm typing on it so she can go to sleep. and she always walks all over it and presses all kinds of weird keys, then i have to IM sean and ask him how to undo whatever weird thing she did. she somehow managed to press something like control + apple + shift + 8 or something weird like that and it made the screen all contrasty and i seriously couldn't figure out how to undo it. (thanks for the help on that, sean, haha)

there are many many things that i don't like about having a chubby tummy, but there is ONE thing that i do like, and here it is. zoey will always walk across me while i'm half sitting half laying on the couch playing on the computer (usually while she's trying to sleep on it) and whenever she steps on my stomach she just HAS to stop and start kneading (sp?) on it. it's soooo damn cute. and she'll do it for like 5 minutes too. until eventually she settles down and falls asleep (half on the computer, half on the tummy).

...blaker gets confused by many things. one of those things is the printer. he then continued to destroy the second page of the paper i was trying to print. (oh, by the way, i'm taking a class that meets this past tuesday through next tuesday 8 hours a day!!! it's rough!! and there's lots and lots of assignments every night. it's a good class tho, it's issues in domestic violence. i recommend it)

ok, one last random thing, then i'm done. so this morning i was shaving and somehow i shaved a chunk of skin off of my leg. not like i nicked myself or anything, like it actually shaved the skin off. so, after i stopped the really bad bleeding (you know how much shaving cuts bleed), i went to rinse out the razor and i had to pull a whole sliver of skin out!! it was like an inch long!!!! at the time i was disgusted (and tired...it was 7:30 in the morning) so i just rinsed it off and went about my business. but later in the day (after i had recited the story to jon) i realized how funny (funny sometimes = sick) it would be if i kept the piece of skin for jon to see. so i took a look in the shower and, sure enough, there was my skin! stuck to the shower floor! so i did what any sane person would do...grabbed it and put it in a ziploc bag. and took a picture of it. and posted it on LJ. anyways, this is kinda weird, so i'll leave it behind a cut for ya...kinda a confusing picture, but...

goodnight dears.

so awhile ago, the lovely amanda and i had the idea of starting a book club. of course, there are a few reasons that this would be difficult, the first of which being the fact that we live an hour and a half away from each other. and the second would be my complete lack of social skills which makes it difficult for amanda to convince me to leave the apartment.

anyways, here's my contribution to the book club effort. go join my group! post reviews of books you've read, comments about books you're currently reading, whatever and ever amen.

Read, Write, Recite

and then go join amanda's contribution to the effort, the myspace book club!!

Reading Repartee

"List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your LJ along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to."

1. Elliott Smith: I Didn't Understand
2. Appleseed Cast: A Dream For Us
3. the Decemberists: Angel, Won't You Call Me?
4. Green Day: She's a Rebel
5. the Spill Canvas: The Tide
6. Val Emmich: No More
7. Elliott Smith: Angeles

i don't actually have seven people that i think would do it, so here's all i've got...
everyn
weleavefossils
redhotsummer
mamafratelli
switching_sight

ok everyone, it's time to figure out your blues name...

your blues name is the name of a disability (preferably one that in some way applies to you), a fruit, and the name of a dead president/founding father. here's ours...

Me: Crazy Pineapple Washington
Jon: ADD Mango Jay
Blake: Mischievous Starfruit Jefferson
Zoey: Claw-less Pomegranate Garfield (called Claw-less PG for short)

now everyone needs to leave theirs!!!!!

i got my computer!!!! the mail guy brought it to me this morning, i was so happy i could have kissed him!!! hehe. it was super easy to set up and transfer all my info and whatnot...and now i have a wonderfully functioning computer!!! the only bad thing is that the power cable is super short...BUT the battery actually works!!!! my other computer would only last maybe 10 minutes if it wasn't plugged in. anyways, this was a christmas present from mom and dad (...and me actually haha, we split it 3 ways) so THANK YOU GUYS!!!!!

i've been getting all kinds of exciting stuff in the mail recently. some buttons from eBay (a few elliott smith ones, and a few "jon stewart for president" ones haha), hair dye, some books i got (used) from amazon (one of them being sex and the city! i hope it's as good as the show!). i also bought 3 of the "thumb" movies (after being introduced to "thumbwars" by sean and amanda!!! hehe i corrected it!). i got "thumbwars" (of course), "frankenthumb", and "the godthumb" for super cheap from record and tape trader's. who's up for a watching them sometime soon? i've also been completely obsessed with my nintendo ds lately. jon says i pay more attention to it than i do to him...ok, it's true...it's just so fun though!!!!!!!!

so i can now post pictures again!!! i have lots of pictures, but i chose my favorite two in an attempt not to bore you too terribly much. this picture is from the day that we made the mistake of giving blake a bath haha. ok, it wasn't a mistake, he was horribly stinky and he desperately needed bathing. but we were all emotionally (and for those of us without claws, physically) scarred by the incident.

and the second picture just a cute one of my zoey. she's such a cutie pie.

ok guys...post some pictures on your journal!!! now!!!

tonight jon and i went to hagerstown for everyn's birthday party. it was a poopy drive cuz it was all rainy, but it was a good time anyways. lots of crazy kiddies running around. heidi made this hat for everyn that cracked me up cuz i had made a very similar hat like a week before! haha so i decided to post a picture of the one that i made...

haha i thought that was goofy. heidi's was cuter tho cuz it had a little face on it. but i'm not sure that jon would wear mine if i had put a face on it...

this was a random picture from a few days ago. i was sitting on the computer and blake decided to just jump up and have a little rest on my shoulder. it was so random and slightly confusing that i just had to take a picture...

yeah just a few more random pictures. first, one of me explaining what the next step of the kitty ears hat was...

and next, a pair of legwarmers that i made a few weeks ago. this was my first knitting project (of anything besides a scarf, i mean) in quite some time...

i'm sick of all these stupid people coming up with stupid plans to screw people over or get one person to not like another person. i don't know about you, but i'm not in high school anymore. so i'd just like to say a few words to some very special ladies (and gents, for that matter) out there: fuck off. screwing over other people doesn't make you look more attractive. you're just ugly people, and nothing could ever change that. have a nice day!

by the way, who says "Please fuck off." haha seriously can't you just drop the spoiled snob routine for ONE second? it scares me to think that perhaps it isn't a routine...

we got kittens!!!! they are so super cute!! blake is a kitten (4 months old) so he's completely insane and kinda mean to zoey...although jon insists that he's just "playing". zoey is sweet and wonderful and may or may not be a girl. haha it's up for debate. either way, i want to keep calling her zoey because it's an awesome name and she is totally girly!

blake drinks out of every glass i set down...

about an hour after this picture was taken (while i was asleep) he proceeded to knock the glass off the night stand. what a kitten.

zoey is pure awesomeness.

swiffer vac = the best $30 i have spent in a long time. haha seriously i actually look forward to swiffer vac time. these pictures were so random i just had to post them...

i should totally do swiffer commercials.

i haven't updated in forever and, although so much has happened, this is how i want to start...last night i dyed my hair. i had debated for days whether i should dye my hair red or brown, and finally red won (because i figured it would be easy to go from red to brown, but not so easy to go from brown to red).

before (as a blonde):

and so the hair dying begins...jon was horrified...

eeekk!!!!!

rinsing...(hey that's private):

and the finished product (thanks to kelly for the haircut!!!)!!! hey...wait a second, wasn't my hair supposed to be red?

uhm...this picture i just thought was cute...

anyways, i have lots more to share and lots of pictures to show but this is all for tonight.

so tonight was the last time that i will ever see the get up kids perform together. ever. do you know how much time that is?! that's a freakin' long time. after much debate over whether or not i'd be going to this show dateless (driving to philly alone? eww scariness), amanda stepped up and said that she'd go with me. it was hardcore girl time. if only kelly would have come too! boo on kelly for not coming. unfortunetly i'm not as great of a concert photographer as jeff always was, so my pictures are shitty...

just to give you an idea of what the whole experience looked like...

yeah we were in a really bad place to take pictures from...it was this weird little corner under the balcony. not bad to watch the show from, but not at all ideal for picture taking.

so, talk about a completely random thing to happen while at a show, listen to this. a bit after the get up kids go on, amanda is like "hey look at that guy on the side of the stage, he totally looks like chris carrabba! cuteness!" so we giggled about that for awhile and we decided to convince ourselves that it really was chris carrabba because...well how random is that? a little further into the show, james (the keyboard player) grabs this set list off the stage, and goes running around to all the guys on stage getting them to sign it. he's like "this is for our friend chris, cuz he's such a big fan of ours" and he runs over and gives it to the chris carrabba look-alike. at this point, amanda and i are like "wtf? that's weird..." so eventually james drags chris out on stage to play keyboard and sing with him AND IT SERIOUSLY WAS CHRIS CARRABBA!!! how random is that?!?!? haha that was sheer awesomeness. sadly this is the best picture that i could get of this event...

but wow, how weird, i love it. so the show was awesome, there wasn't any song that i was really looking forward to that they didn't play or anything. amanda was really looking forward to hearing "i'll catch you" and she was a little dissapointed that it didn't seem like they were going to play it, but they ended up closing with it (what better song is there to close with?). they even played "close to me". totally rock and roll.

not to ramble but...well i'm going to ramble. it was a really weird show for me. not just cuz of the chris carrabba thing, although that was weird. this was the first show that i've been to since jeff and i were no longer jeff and i. it was seriously tragic. i was on the verge of tears. there are some things that you can completely in every way share with a person, and i think music was one of those things to jeff and i. we just saw it the same way and it affected us the same way and i think that's an incredible thing to have. and even though the get up kids weren't one of his favorite bands, he would have come with me and probably had a great time and...i don't know, just understood it! that's what's important! aww nostalgia is totally stabbing me in the face right now. wow, i can't believe i just said that something was stabbing me in the face. what the hell does that mean? haha it was the first thing that came to mind, so i'm gonna stick with it.

ok enough of that. i can't believe i just wrote actual thoughts on an lj. that always ends badly. oh well, fuck it.

"don't worry, i'll catch you...don't ever worry"

so basically my entire life has changed in the past week or two. some of it's good...a lot of it's bad. i am no longer employed at sheppard pratt...well, that's not entirely true, because i'm working there right now. but as of 7:30 today when my shift is over, i will no longer be employed here. that's what you get for holding on to your morals. or, as my manager said, "that's life". haha i questioned her on that one for awhile...i mean what the hell does that mean?! what's life? is it a normal part of life to be working at a job for 8 months and never have any problems then suddenly get fired for not adhering to a dress code that doesn't exist? i hope that's not life. cuz that seems pretty damned sketchy to me. in two more weeks i will be fired from my other job as well, for an eerily similar reason.

the rest of the changes going on right now are not things that i particularly want to talk about. and they're probably not things that you particularly want to hear about.

i want a new tattoo.

oh, and boys suck. i mean this to no one in particular, just whoever you are, if you're a boy, you suck. sorry about your luck. i didn't mean for that to rhyme.

finally a few pictures...it's about time huh? the only reason that i've been able to get some pictures up here is because i've fired up the good ole PC again. i think i'm coming to realize that i'm not a mac kind of girl. i thought i could be...but when it comes down to it, they just annoy and frusterate me. PCs kinda suck, but atleast i understand them. so i'm not sure what i'm going to do about this relevation, but i'm glad that i've stopped kidding myself.

i ♥ this boy

another thing that i've realized is this: i love artsy pictures. depending on who they're coming from, i'll endlessly trash them. i'll call them pretentious and "emo", but when it comes down to it, i enjoy taking them myself. quite a bit. and when i get bored, sometimes i like to take super artsy/"emo" pictures of myself. that's just the way it is. if you don't like it, then don't talk to me anymore. so here's to boredom. and more so than that, boredom with a camera.

so if you haven't seen me in awhile, that's kind of what i look like nowadays. except in color. if you can imagine.

today = final review in history of film
tuesday = punchline at the ottobar (with tyler who i keep forgetting to call about it)
wednesday = work and happy birthday to jakob
thursday = political soc final review
friday = jeff's film screening
saturday = nothing. this rox my sox
sunday = family gathering, then jakob's birthday party

"last night i took one look at you and i got this feeling you're the right one"
